Re: Almost cross a school bus with stop arm out. Stop right next to the Bus Driver seat

School buses have a lot of extra authority on the road. When that stop sign swings out, shit gets real. You go past, the driver is trained to take down your licence plate number and turn it in to the authorities resulting in a summons arriving in the mail or even right at your front door. There are occasions where that doesn't happen, so you better fucking pray that this is one of those occasions. This is more than a than a civil traffic violation, this is a misdemeanor if I understand you correctly. If the violation goes on record and you don't respond your licence (assuming you do have a licence and you weren't driving on a permit unsupervised in which case you are in a much deeper heap of shit) could wind up suspended. My suggestion; go to the DMV, tell them what happened, and have them check the records for any violations against you. If there is anything, take care of it ASAP.
Future advice on school buses, don't try to get around them in low speed rural areas. Their stops aren't exactly predictable. Just follow at a safe distance, when the yellow lights start flashing, slow down, and when the reds start flashing stop. Also when you see one oncoming, no matter what it's doing, slow down and keep an eye open for those lights and be prepare to stop.
If you did this on a learners permit; don't go to the DMV. Don't do anything, say nothing to no one unless a summons arrives. If the summons comes, be honest with the authorities and they're more likely to take it easy on you.
