I recently helped a bud change his plugs, and we tried the cowl removal trick. We went one step further and removed the engine hood, and damn if they weren't right there with a bit of effort. He didn't want to drill the hole, though, so we went up from underneath, him under, me in the cab to guide the wrench, and it worked. A bit Rube Goldberg, granted with two of us doing what one should do, but hey, it worked.
