Question Question about intermittent AC Issue.

Hello,

I have a 2004 Nissan Xterra and I noticed this week that the AC was working intermittently. Seemed to work fine as long as I was moving, but once I was stopped it seemed like the compressor shut off and I just got hot air.

I went to the store and got some freon, I couldn't gauge the current level because the compressor wouldn't turn on. Can said to inject 1/2 a can if that was the case and see if that helps anything. It didn't, so I just stopped, I don't want to over fill it.

I went back out after the car had cooled down for a couple hours and the AC came on again and it was nice and cold too.

Could it be overheating and turning itself off? Somebody mentioned there might be an electric blower fan that has failed so it's getting to hot, but when I'm driving there is enough air to keep it cool enough so it works then.

Thanks for any opinions...

Matt
