I would bring the vehicle to a transmission shop to determine how much $$ to repair. the fluid needs replacing every 40-50,ooomi more often if the vehicle is used in 90 deg f temps.

post back what they found. if nothing is damaged and just needs a cleaning I would be surprised.

fluid should be a red/pink color dexron VI is the correct fluid. use a white cloth to determine color. the darker the fluid the more it is burnt. if slipping it should be burnt.
