Unhappy Solara starts and then kills

My wife's 2000 Solara V6 has recently started to have a starting problem. It occasionally has this starting problem. It will start up, run rough, and then kill. It has only done this a couple of times - and only when it is under 1/4 tank of gas. I checked the plugs and none are fouled. The oil is clean and changed every 3000 miles. The PCV filter was changed last year. I suspect that it is the fuel filter and/or water moisture in the tank.

Can someone provide me to a link or some instructions on finding the fuel filter? I found out at an auto parts website that it is an inline filter.

I'm a die-hard Mustang guy and I know that when you change teh filter on a Mustang, you have to let the tank de-pressurize - either by letting it it for 6-7 hours or by hitting the fuel pump interrupt switch in the trunk. Will letting the Solara sit do the same thing? And will a simple disconnect kit work for the Solara as well?

Either way, I need to change the filter. AFAIK, it's never been changed.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Mark
