I get that they are better on gas but the price is still way too high. The Civic Hybrid is about $10000 more than the comparable gas Civic. Based on EPA estimates, the Hybrid saves about $500 a year(12,000 mi). That means you have to own it for 20 years to just break even. Trains have much better results because they dont have to stop and go. It takes a lot less power to maintain than it does to get going. For now I think gas is the more viable and cost effective unless you plan on keeping your hybrid for life.

P.S. The batt does not last 20 years.
