Re: Ugly liberals car?

Well since you asked the question, I would have to say that you are wrong.

From an engineering perspective the car has some unbelievable aspects.

One of the lowest drag co of any production car, the frame and chassis is entirely aluminum. The body panels are plastic and aluminum.
There is not one piece of steel on it. Curb weight is under 1800lbs, ( 816Kg. )

The engine and trans together weigh less than 165lbs (74Kg) the pistons are forged, and the oil pan is made of magnesium for weight and to strengthen the block.
It has the same valvetrain as the S2000, as well as the electric power steering. The head has a built in exaust manifold that outputs to a plastic runner/header.
The engine has no balancer, so the electric motor activates to reduce vibration.

They cost more to manufacture than they sell them for.

The only problem is it is ugly, but

At 3.5 L/100km 65MPG the looks don't become a concern. They basically made a car that was fuel efficient in 3 ways

1. Aerodynamics
2. Weight
3. Engine technology

That seems like a hard formula to follow these days and it shouldnt be.
This car was a spring board to make other models in the Honda lineup profitable, IE: Accord and Civic.

And it still is made because it is the most fuel efficient car on the planet.
With all of this, if you are a CAR person you'd have respect for that.
