It was all pretty-much right...except this. The US-market Escort was NEVER made by Mazda. Parts of the Escort (much of it, actually) was designed by Mazda, and the GT's 1.8L DOHC engine was supplied by Mazda (along with some transmissions), but the Escort itself was built in Ford plants in Hermosillo, Mexico, and Wayne, Michigan.
