When you press the lock button, does it 'ding' and then after you close the door, does it lock in about 5 seconds? That is the way my Grand Prix is and I think the 'ding' is letting you know that it felt you push the button. The behavior might be programmable. You see, if I went and hit the button to lock it, and it did not ding, and then I close the door, will it lock? I would not be sure, because I'm not sure if my attempt to press the button was successful.
