I've never driven a pre '98 so wasnt too sure on how the system operated.
2nd gen rodeos have the push button SOFT but now that I have manual hubs mine isnt really shift on the fly anymore. The button can be a bad thing though, its right next to the cruise control button. I accidentally pushed the 4x4 button at 75 mph while trying to turn on the cruise control
Luckily I dont think the system will even let it try to shift in at that speed.
