I didn't think you could get the alternator belt over the fan, which is what led me to go to all that work, but I later learned the belt is just long enough to go over the fan, half at a time, so you can do it all with everything in place. Getting to one or both of the tensioner lock bolts might be a bit tricky though.
All in all I'm glad I went to the trouble, a good experience and my radiator really did need a good cleaning.
