heater core on a '91 318IS

did a search on the forum, and quoting a post:

"take the cover off below the instr. cluster and remove the knee-bolster if ness. just to the right of the steering column you'll see the heater valve......
the hoses at the firewall, the valve itself or the heater core can leak...follow the pipes up towards
the console and you see where the core is.....if it's
leaking only the two screws you see there hold it in
[after removing the heater valve/pipe manifold....."

just want to clarify if anyone can provide some detail. need to overhaul the cooling system on a '91 328IS, including the heater core....and was wondering if it was as simple as dropping a couple covers, the heater valve, and then the core as well, all without pulling the dash. Thanks guys.
