If that was the case, what would be the point of 4WD? AWD means the vehicle has the capability to send power to all 4 wheels, but all 4 wheels don't always have power.

Nowadays with the introduction of car-like SUVs, the lines between 4WD and AWD are being blurred. A lot of vehicles say they have 4WD when it is merely AWD. It also seems like a solid front axle or 15" wheels on an SUV, 4WD is becoming a minority.
