Thanks all. Yeah, it's a tight fit, but not as bad as working under the hood..

I was able to remove the IP trim pad without removing the steering column, but that was the most difficult part. The lower left corner of the IP trim pad gets stuck on the column (after removing top and bottom covers, turn signal & wiper switch). I actually took off that metal bracket from the IP trim pad after I got it out, which makes reassembly easier. Was going to rivet it back, but will probably just use nuts and bolts instead. I also taped a heavy piece of plastic around the column, which helps things slide over instead of getting caught. Having a 2nd person would have helped too.

Tech II - are you talking about unbolting that large magnesium piece? I think I see what you mean. Having that part even a few inches lower would have made it a lot easier.
