Red face 2015 Hyundai Tucson Engine Failure - Rebuild vs. New Engine

Hi, All; I know NOTHING about cars, so please bear with me. My 2015 Hyundai Tucson broke down at ~54,000 miles. It appears a "rod had gone through the oil pan." Hyundai is paying for all repairs (car was still under warranty). The service shop told me that they are going to "rebuild the short block, because it is impossible to put an entirely new engine in a 2015 Tucson." My question is, is this just a patch? Are they trying to be cheap about the repairs? The dealership told me that the total invoice will probably come to about $7,600.00 (which, again, Hyundai is paying for, Phwew!). Also, this repair work will not result in a new engine warranty. I'm afraid they are just trying to get my engine to limp along until the 100,000 mile warranty is up. Any help and/or advise is greatly appreciated!
Jenn
