Okay - scratch all that extra nonsense I said about seat sizing. I thought that I had seen different numbers on some of those plaques, but it appears they are all the same.
Quote:
"E" Mark and "e" Mark (Homologation for vehicles / vehicle components)
In Europe, there are two parallel systems for the certification of motor vehicles and their components:
EU (European Union) directives and
http://ECE (Economic Commission for ...) regulations.
EMC of vehicle sub assemblies - "e" Mark
"E" Mark
The "E" mark is based on ECE regulations issued by the Economic Commission for Europe, which is based in Geneva. It is an organizational part of the UN and the members are EU countries and many others. Therefore, the acceptance of approved components is much broader, especially in the eastern part of Europe. It is necessary to confirm whether a particular country has accepted (signed) the application of an ECE-regulation; as the application it is not mandatory for the countries.

More details
here - though I have not yet found any reference to the specific "I-0083" stamped on the McLaren plate.
And I continue to learn new things every day, just like you are supposed to...
