Re: 89 civic 1.5 threw the timing belt

hey guys i got a timing belt on it, and it did start., i'm curious if i did get the timing belt off a 1-2 teeth. i got it running and its running rough at idle, a tad bit of gas and its ultra smooth untill about 3-3500 rpm, then it bogs out and acts like it hits the rev limiter.

how critical is it for me to let the engine run with out touching the gas. and how long. i've heard that hondas need to run for 10-15mins before touching them. because my battery was disconnected for 2days is that true? am i full of crap?

thank you for all your input. my mom gave me this car last year, i learned to drive stick with it about 13 years ago so i'd like to keep it going, she also told me she had the timing belt break on the freeway before.

so i'm not sure if i have the valve to crank timing correct. i had the key way on my crank pointing up, then i rotated it backwards 3 teeth, the up was up on the cam, and the - - marks were parallel with the head. i did a compression test and had about 180lbs to 200 in all cylinders.

anything else i should do? oh timing belt tensioner locked up, half the bearings are gone, cause noted!!
