Hello, I read your post, and have a 2002 4.7 Dodge that mirrors your problem.I have done A lot of work on this engine and think I have found the source of the knock. Do you still have this engine and have you eliminated your knock. Let me know what is going on with yours,and we will compare notes.
Mine was also overheated, but not bad. And,I bought it with the knock. Thought it would be a fairly easy fix,but it has been anything but that.
