I think that you are the most knowledeable mechanic on here. I posted about my 2002 Passat not starting. It started off with the missing while driving and occasionally backfiring. Codes read misfire cyl 2 & 4. Then later when I started it while at an idle it seemed not to be running on all cylinders. So I turned it off and started it later and it started fine and ran except for the occasional missing while accelerating. Well, I had an emergency, and started it and it was doing the not idling right but drove it anyway. I had no power sometimes, but then would run right, then not. I made it to my destination and it hasnt started since. It will turn over but wont start. When it is on the computer while cranking it, it is only hitting on one cylinder. Im at a loss. I have no idea. I have changed the coil pack and spark plugs. Could it be the fuel filter or wires or the cam shaft position sensor? It is the 6 cyl GLX 4 motion 170k miles. The closest VW dealership is 100 miles away. Thank you

Hello I am about to put the repaired cylinder head back on a 1.8 t 99 passat. The book says to put the 4 pistons halfway down the bore . and since I had the head done, it says to make sure the #1 camshaft lobes are facing up, torque head bolts, then turn crankshaft to top dead center. Is this correct?Thank you for your help. Also,do I need to purchase a new tensioner since I dont have the pin?

Hello. I am working on a 1999 passat and the owner lost about 10 inches of timing belt teeth. Belt is still on vehicle and he tried to start it again. He wants me to put a new belt on it and tensioner(which was bad) but I think he did damage. Is it safe to do this or a waste of time?Thank you for your time and imput.
