Yes , it happend to be the seal on the dist. cap. I know it sounds weird but one side of the threads were stripped. new cap, little bigger screw. you have to drill the dist cap hole a little bigger, to accomodate the bigger screw.boy,that was an irritating problem. way to much over thinking. hope this helps..

did you ever find out what was wrong with your 97 305??? i have a 99 tahoe doin the same exact thing any help would be appreciated
