so I want to turn this bike into all black. Thats what I'm down for right now. But I may change my mind once I put some time in possible designs. Anywho, I have the tools needed to do the pain job. Just not sure what exactly to do.

So first and for most what kind of paint is a good choice? I dont want something super expensive here, but I want something decent. Whether I want gloss or matte or semi gloss I'm not sure of yet. But if I could be pointed towards the right type of paint and good brands, I'd appreciate it.

Second. Should I use a paint/clear coat mix? or should I go with paint, then do a clear coat?

and 3rd. I've never done work on a plastic that is already finished.. What is the best thing to do here?
1. clean the surface, put on a primer, then paint
2. sand, prime, paint

Well, its that time of the year (for most of us) where the summer toys have to go into hibernation til the warmer months come around again. I took the opportunity to wash the bike and take some more pics before putting her up for the next few months. Come this spring, I'm going to sell it and upgrade. This way, I'll ger rid of the monthly payments and lower my insurance to just liability. Saves me some money. Well, here they are.

Advice for an Aussie in Hawaii

Hey guys, I'm flying to Hawaii next week.

Even though things are similar between Australia and America, I think I still need some advice.

1)I've been told Americans can struggle with the Aussie accent. True or false?

2) I know you drive on the right side of the road, but does that mean you guys keep right if you're the slow vehicle? We drive on the left and slow vehicles keep left. Since it'll take me a little while to get used to not only sitting on the wrong side of the car, but some reversed controls, I reckon I'll be the slow driver for about half and hour. :naughty:

3) Tip for services at 10% as a standard?

4) Best ways not to piss off an American?

5) Best way TO piss off an American? :naughty:

6)I've also been told to be very clerical and straight forward at Hawaii Airport and don't joke about a thing. Does anyone have a sense of humour in Airports anymore? Last time we traveled, Aussie customs guys wanted to confiscate a six pack of beer for themselves.

7) does your beer contain alcohol? :runaround:

8)And Spite is not Lemonade over there, right?

We all know of the idea of using a VW Beetle driveline to make a road-going trike.

Now that Beetles are getting rare, here's the modern equivalent. (http://community.comcast.net/comcastportal/board/message?board.id=TheCoffeeShop&message.id=1221306)

Imo it would be nicer if it was not painted 'asphalt camouflage'

Veteran's Day ride!

Today was the annual St Louis Veteran's Day parade...and nature gave us the most wonderful weather you could possible ask for in early November...blue cloudless skies, strong sunshine and a light breeze...freakin' awesome!.

Stated out for the rendezvous point to register at Gateway H-D, got there about 8:30 am with temps already in the 60's...and I'm perfectly comfy in two t-shirts and jeans.

Met up with my compadres there, and we got registered and then chowed down on some free grub courtesy of the dealer, some very good biscuits with sausage gravy.

Trolled around looking at bikes and perusing the dealership as the ranks in the parking lot swelled to dozens, then hundreds of bikes. By the time we fired 'em up to leave for downtown around 10, the parking lot was near capacity.

We proceeded through town with police escort, passing right past my home as we headed towards the highway...my wife and kids said it took perhaps five minutes or more for the long thundering line to pass...

We made our way downtown and staged 'em on a street near the beginning of the parade route, by the time other groups from other starting points arrived, we filled 2 lanes 4-5 wide for several blocks...I talked to a guy trying to get an accurate count and he was over 700 and still counting!

As temps pushed near 80 we sat waiting for a long time but it passes quickly as there was lots to see and new people to talk to. Finally sometime after noon it was our turn to enter the parade route, and we wound through the downtown streets lined with waving and whistling people and little kids with flags and lots of disabled vets who seemed to really enjoy our tribute of respect. It was a very cool experience!

I normally stay away from group riding, I prefer to ride alone or in the company of one or two others. This was the first time I'd ever been a part of any ride of this magnitude, and I have to admit it was a pretty cool experience...so I'm glad I went...and of course the cause was well worth it.

Maybe my hearing will come back before the weekend is over? :grinno:

Text: Following Wednesday’s episode of South Park in which Cartman and the crew try to re-brand the word “faggot” as a way to describe “annoying and inconsiderate” riders of Harley-Davidsons, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) released a statement saying that Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s intentions were noble, but their methods awry. “The creators of South Park are right on one important point: more and more people are using the F-word as an all-purpose insult. However, it is irresponsible and wrong to suggest that it is a benign insult or that promoting its use has no consequences for those who are the targets of anti-gay bullying and violence.” Clip of Kyle and Stan’s attempt at a sociological shift after the jump.

Guess I should go hide from the soon-to-be-flying beer bottles headed my way! :greddy2:
