DVD player won't turn on.

Hey, we just bought an '07 Toyota Sienna yesterday, and we had the dealership install a new overhead DVD player for the kids. It's made by Audiovox, "Movies2Go". The model is MMD11. Anyway, they installed it yesterday, and it worked fine driving home, then we took the whole fam to the grocery store, and it worked fine all that time. Then we went into the store, and when we came out, it won't work. Simply wont turn on. The buttons normally would be illuminated whenever the car was on, but now they are simply not illuminated at all and will not respond at all. I know the unit has power, because the dome lights that are included in the unit will turn on.

Any ideas? It is covered by a one year warranty by the dealership, so if needs be, I will drive it there tomorrow, but they're about 45 minutes away, so I wanted to check here to see if it is something simple first. We did have a a burned DVD in the drive, not a commercial DVD, don't think that should make a difference, but I thought I'd mention it. And we were also testing to see what would happen if we just turned off the radio without turning off the unit. It did exactly as we expected, it just lost audio, because it's using an FM tuner. Then we simply powered off the unit. And it won't come back on.

Sorry for being long winded. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I'm a newbie here. I've read the newbie thread. I have an 04 Explorer Eddie Bauer edition fully loaded. 4WD leather, heated seats, etc.

I own the following:
1 older low end Alpine head unit that I intend to put in my boat
1 planet audio PA 1002 200W amp that I intend to put in my boat
1 Nakamichi PA-202 2X40W amp
1 Nakamichi PA-302 2X80W amp
1 Nakamichi PA-304 4X45W amp with a blown power supply
1 Nakamichi SP-S522 two way component speaker system
1 Nakamichi SP-80 8" subs (pair) mounted in ported boxes tuned for 60Hz
1 Nakamichi MB-75 head unit
1 Nakamichi EC-304 electronic crossover (3-way two channel)
1 Nakamichi EC-202 electronic crossover (2-way four channel)

I have found the Focal K2 Power 165KRX3 component system for $1000. MSRP is $2200 and most sites have it listed for $1800.

I have found an install guy that can build some custom door panels. I am extremely impressed with Focal speakers but have never heard them. My thought is to put the SP-S522 speakers in the rear doors and drive them with the PA-202. The Focal speakers will go in the front doors. The SP-80s will be driven by the PA-302. I would also like to put a very good equalizer in the dash with the MB-75.

I have read NOTHING negative about Focal except for the price. I can provide more details if I need to, but I want some serious opinions.

Thanks.

Using Auto Regulator in a Solar Array

I'm asking this question in Car Audio, because I thought that car audio people would be the most capable of answering my question which regards DC electronics and automotive parts. Forgive me, I didn't know who else to ask. So here it is:

I'm interested in using a scrap automobile regulator in a solar panel array. Here's my concern and question:
Auto regulators are usually connected to the alternator which suggests they are regulating AC voltage. Are they taking AC as input and producing AC output or do they have an inverter built in? Additionally, I can't find information explaining the difference between AC and DC voltage regulators. Can I use an AC regulator in a DC sys tem and expect the same results?

I've hooked up my whole system as proper as i can. all the wires are separate. the amps power lines on the opposite side of car from the audio cables. everything's wired right. but theres a low and VERY annoying thumping coming through the speakers and the bass. i think its coming from the alternator because when i rev the engine it gets louder and and faster. my friend who knows a little about sound systems believes that the problem can be solved with either hooking up a second battery for the amps or putting in a power cap. i've been looking at princing for power caps and i think i'll go with one of them. but i want to know if there is anything i should check first before i buy one. does anyone know if there are any other reasons why it is making this annoying thumping noise.

I have a Chevy Silverado Extended Cab Year 2001. In the backseat i have a Custom Made box that fits perfectly under my seat. It can fit 2 12's in it and my Amp is Fastened to the top of it. I previously had 2 12 inch MTX Jackhammer's in with no problems but i wanted a cleaner sounding bass. My friend sold me 2 12' inch Pioneer Shallow Mount Premier's. 400 Watts Nominal Power. My Amp is a Kicker 08ZX400.1 pushes 200 Watts RMS x 1 at 4 Ohms (400 Watts x 1 at 2 Ohms). I Installed the Subs no problems and i started driving and within minutes smelled a funky smell kind of tangy ish if that makes sense. The Subs are relatively new to my knowledge my friend has the same exact truck. ( I took his Box and Now the Subs that were in it the Pioneers.) He said he had that setup for like a month but i dont know what kind of amp he had. Ive heard that it could be the Excess Glue burning off but i doubt that. I Turned the bass boost all the way down i dont know what to do. I dont know much at all about Subwoofers and the way they work. Any Help would be appreciated thanks!!

Good Evening everyone!

I am just looking for a basic one way keyless entry remote starter.

My whole deal is, what the heck is with all of them? They all have dopy looking ugly @$$ remotes that resemble childs toys that light up and sing songs when buttons are pushed. I'm not into them at all.

I just want something that has a half ways decent looking remote. If it looked like OEM, that would also be a plus. I dont need a 2 way, nor do I really need it to reach much farther than across a parking lot. I just want something that doesnt look like complete @$$.

Any Ideas?

BTW, this will be going into a 1997 Chevy Silverado k1500, so installation will be pretty straight forward (this will be about my 6th rs install).

Thanks!
