Engine Vibration '89 Town Car

Hello forum, my first post here....question: I have an '89 Town Car with roughly 130,000 mi., in great condition. I've owned the vehicle for 16 years, it has been immaculately maintained. I just had a complete tune up/checkup etc., with transmission service. I'm noticing a vibration at about 65 mph up that wasn't there before. It's not hard, but noticeable. It's fast, like a vibrator, and comes and goes every few seconds. The engine isn't missing, at least that I'm aware of, smooth at idle anyway. I've also noticed a bit of a jump in oil consumption, about 1/2 qt. every other week, I used to not put anything in it for months. This vibration goes away after slowing down. I'm not sure what to think of it, anyone have any ideas ??

1996 4.6 L no start problem finally solved

Hi guys. I fixed something today, for a change. Any one ever heard of this happening? It was the last thing I checked, damn.

The no start problem was that four of the rocker arms had jumped off on that left bank. It was sort of a timing issue, the chain is fine no problems there. Didn't appear to be any damage to anything, inside there I have no idea why they might have jumped off. I suppose it is possible that four of the lifters collapsed, from car sitting for so long.

Now on to the tune up problems, from the car sitting for so long with this problem.

So my headlight went out the other day and ive never changed the bulb before on this car. I'm sure very simple, but before i go ahead and change the bulb, does anyone have any tips to make this easy as possible?

Its the passenger side headlight right behind the battery. Should i just remove the batter and unplug and plug back in?

2000 Town Car Light Module

I have a 2000 Town car that the turn signals or emergency flashers don't work. It was determined that it was the light module located under the dash board. I searched on ebay, and they are pricey near 600 dollars, it looks like a mother board. The shop that I normally take it to told me that they can't fix it because they have to take the codes from the old board and put them on to the new board. Has anyone else every have that problem? I was wondering what you would pay to have that fixed.
Thanks,
John

Hey guys, I am parting out my 01 Towncar. Exterior is pearl with grey vinyl roof. Interior is dark grey with wood trip. Havent sold anything off the car yet. If interested, please email me at gobenb@gmail.com.

Interior is good, most body panels are good, engine is great, transmission good, alternator good. Pretty much it just has some damage on exterior or passenger side. Airbags did not deploy.

Just trying to get some cash at of this car. Will make a deal.

Thanks everyone!

Speed sensing sterring?'s

I recently got a 97 Towncar. To have it registered I had frt end work done, new tires and an alignment as well as new shocks all around. That tells me steering linkage is good. I drove it 3000 miles on interestates to get it home. No real problems, steering seemed very sensitive. The other day when correcting for a wind gust I was wondering into oncoming lane then into ditch before finally getting control. The speed sensing switch on dash dose not seem to make any difference no matter where I have it. It seems to stay on slow speed sterring all the time. Any ideas?

1993 Town Car-Air Suspension Problem?

I have a 1993 Town Car (Presidential), and the ride was as smooth as butter--until today. I got about 2 miles from home, and all of a sudden, the car was bouncing up and down when driving over anything but totally flat & smooth road. It almost rattled my teeth! I got out and checked the tires, which looked fine, but I noticed the back end was about 5" from the ground--very low. I checked the manual, and read about the air suspension switch in the trunk. I checked it, and it was on. I turned it off then on a few times, but it made no difference. Needless to say, I drove back home--slowly.

Since this is Saturday, I won't be able to have my mechanic (20 miles away) check it until Monday. So here are my questions:

1.) Would it be safe for me to drive the car those 20 miles, or is it likely to do damage? Should I have it towed in?

2.) Any ideas as to what is likely causing the problem? Is it just a fuse or something simple, or am I looking at laying out some big bucks?

Thanks--I appreciate any and all answers.

First need for heat this fall and the heater in the 91 Lincoln Town Car with automatic temperature control is only blowing cool air. Is this an indication that the hot water control valve under the hood needs to be replaced or could something else be wrong?

Ok, my 97 TC makes a knocking sound when going over a bump. This is not the engine but rather the suspension. I opened the hood, and it sounds like it is coming from the left front of the car. If I push down on the fender, to make the car bounce up and down, I get that sound. It's not that loud, it's just sounds like something is baning into something else, on the front end. Thanks
