Good evening all. I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant that recently lost its accelerater cable while driving to work. (115 mph is not fun in a canyon with 8% grades when your cable has frayed and jammed up:shakehead)

However, my problem is that when started my repair, something fell out of an electrical connecter at the back of the engine against the fire wall. My guess is it has something to do with the ignition system as the car will crank, but not turn over. The forum won't allow me to post a pic for some reason. The location of this wire is on the passenger, again, against the fire wall. It is about 6 inches to the left of the cruise control servos. It is a wiring harness that plugs into something and it is the thing it plugs into that I have lost. If any one knows what is that I lost, I would appreciate some help on this so that I can get my commuter car back on the road. Thanks in advance!

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant GTZ, well we had a very bad storm last week which flooded the streets, after things cooled down i went to see a movie and ended up driving into a 1 way tunnel which was flooded, maybe a foot and a half deep, well i got through it fine, but maybe 10 mins later i noticed the "BATTERY and BRAKE" light dim on and off, i pulled over and looked into the engine bay and noticed nothing different, so i continued to drive, i flicked the wind shield wipper blade on and noticed it moved verry slow, after that things went down hill, all my lights, interior and exterior started to slowly dim so, my CD player cd off, and even my tacks on my dash stoped working (everything dropped to 0) (rpm, speed,etc...) so i parked my car and let it sit over for a day, i come back and open the door and notice the door light very dim, tried to start it and it didnt turn over, so i had a buddy jump it, and as soon as i had external power from the jump, everything worked, lights mega bright, my tacks all work, everything was good, but as soon as i took the jumper cables off, everything started to slowly die again, lights, tacks, and all, anyone have an idea??? this is a 6cyl mitsubishi galant, 2001

i was thinking my alternator, because its soo low to the ground, and it could have easly been under the water for the 5 seconds i drove though it, please, any help would be great

Hard Shifting

Hey guys I have a question.I have a 97 Galant with the 2.4L in it and I was wondering if it is normal for this car to shift at high rpm's.What I mean is when I'm driving down the road it will shift into 2,3,and 4th gears at around 3000 rpm's.And I feel every gear and there's no smooth transition into the higher gears. Is this normal or am I looking at a possible transmission problem? The car has 203 thousand miles on it with the original engine and transmission.I don't know if the transmission fluid or filter has been replaced before I bought the car but I do know I haven't done that yet.Allot of people say not to change these because it flushes out the crud that is acually helping to keep a good gear ratio. But if my tranny is slipping then I don't see I have anything to lose from doing this.

Could there be something else causing this problem like a bad module or something else?I had a friend hook it up to one of those high end OBD scanners that the professionals have and the car isn't throwing any codes for anything and appears to be in perfect working condition. The only thing I see to be wrong with the car is a short in the harness for the after-market radio that I haven't gotten around to fixing yet and I have noticed the rpm gauge will go up higher than the car accelarates.i will hit the gas pedal and the rpm's will go from 1500 to 2000 rpms but the car doesnt pick up speed.I have to push the pedal more then it picks up speed.I know there is probably allot of things that can cause this problem but I'd like to know where to start looking first.
