I don't think it's normal.
I believe I remember it leaving 2 black marks before but I don't do burns that often in my LS lol.
I first noticed the problem when I was backed into some mud and the traction control was constantly kicking on.
I almost was stuck!
This is a spot I've been forced to park at before and never came even close to getting stuck.
Any ideas?

I just bought a 2002 LS V8 and have a few questions. First I'm trying to figure out what trim level I have, I need to replace the front lower ball joints and I'm not sure if I need the 14mm or the 16mm. The car has 5-spd SelectShift Auto & P235/50VR17 Tires on chrome rims does that make it a sport? I also need Stabilizer Sway Bar Links 1 front and 2 rear I saw all of these parts at Deutsche Parts USA which I found reading the forums. They also show Stabilizer Sway Bar Link Bushings would I need those too? Last question for now where is the sensor for the rain sensitive wipers mine are not working.
Thanks

2002 LS V8 About 116k miles.

We need a new serpentine belt. I had it loose before when I replaced the alternator so I know about how the tensioner works. I took a look yesterday and the front driver side of the engine looks very crowded (an understatement for this engine compartment).

Any weird procedures, warnings, cautions or notes I need to be aware of prior to changing the belt?

Uncle Phil is my 2002 LS V8. About 116k miles.

Whats up Guys,

I parked Uncle Phil in the garage on Friday. When I started it up this Monday morning I got a significant plume of blue smoke from the exhaust. It clears up before the engine idles down to curb idle and stays clear during daily use.

This is the second time I have seen this. The last (and first) time was the Thanksgiving week. I run about 250 miles per week going back and forth to the bar...oops I mean work. :)

No leaks, No misfires, no warning lamps. I use Chevron gas only because they claim that they don't use 10% ethanol.

All of a sudden, my LS is skipping 2nd gear (over-revs in 1st, drops into 3rd, and then shifts normally into 4th) and doesn't shift into 5th at all. If I manually shift it from 1st into 2nd, it stays in 1st (even though it say's 2nd on the dash display) until I manually shift to 3rd and then it drops into 3rd .

If I drive in D5, it will throw a transmission Error after a short while at 55+. If I drive in D4, no error (still skips 2nd in both D4 and D5)).

I've searched the forum and am not finding anything similar. Any thoughts? Maybe something similar to the broken pre-stroke 4-3 spring?

Thanks in advance for any input.

How does one remove the center console?

I own a 2005 LS V8. Recently I was forced to valet my Lincoln. I drove it home and the next day I noticed the arm rest had been moved forward. When I moved it back, I had a hole where the Traction control button USED to be. Apparently the valet pushed the button through and into the console. I want to reinstall it in its home.

Is it necessary to remove the console or can one remove say the inside box in the storage compartment in the center console to retrieve and reinstall the Traction control switch? Are there any other ways to access this so I can reinstall it?

I need step by step instructions. I know that I can do the job; I just don't know where to begin. I'd take it to the dealer, but I simply cannot afford to pay their rates for a job like this.

Any and all input will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

Heres the deal, My wife has a 02 ls V8 with 99K miles that she absolutly loves. I did all kinds of work to it like paint, lse body kit, intake, exhaust, rims, wing, details, and so on. Its a head turner to say the least.

Driving this thing is a different story all together. Its got all the LS issues you can read about on this forum and I have no time to tackel any these projects. So I want to find someone who knows all about these cars to do the work for me and get this thing back up to par. I could have the ford garage do it but I figure I could save alot of cash by finding the right guy who knows what to look for and has fixed these issues before.

I live in Wisconsin and would be willing to get the car to you or, I have access to a nice heated shop with a hoist. Let me know what works for you. danh0ward@yahoo.com. Thanks.
