Well after checking every sensors' voltage I decide to swap out the crankshaft position sensor to attempt to fix my run 15 mins. and die problem on my 95 neon. After buying the new one I realize the plug is different. no problem, I'll swap out the plug too. I jack the car up, spend 2 hrs. removing the bolt which someone had previously rounded off for me. no problem. I got the bolt.:grinyes:.Next I reach up with a pair of pliers to pull it out of the block and the S.O.B. snaps off flush with the block.:crying: If I push in the piece falls into the crankcase and I'm screwed. Any suggestions before I roll this #$@*^# $!*&%# off a cliff?

Timing belt alignment marks

Alright so I just rebuilt my cylinder head and put it back on. I know the camshaft alignment mark is on the back timing belt cover but...... the previous owner took it off so i have no mark for the camshaft. Is there another way to get the correct position without having to go and get a back cover?

1998 Neon Rough Idle/trouble code p172

Ok, so I recently discovered that my 98 5spd neon was running a little rough, it sounds like its cammed when it sits at idle and if i'm traveling and push the clutch in the rpms drop to 500 for a second or two and then come back up to 950-1000 and idle rough in that position. I have already changed plugs, wires, fuel filter, and fuel regulator. The engine also threw a trouble code p172 (too rich bank 1). Any help on this would be great....she gets me back and forth to school and i cant afford to be driving a dying car!

I have a 95 Neon, that I've replaced the timing belt, water pump, coolant resivor, and the windshild washer fluid tank.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::crying:

I thought I was going to be able to start driving it atlast, but now I'm finding out that there is no heat (the fan does blow, it's just cold).:crying: :crying:If I start the car with the fan running, and turn it off the Check Engine light comes on, If I start the car with the fan off, and turn it on the Check Engine light comes on. My dad and I are trying to figure out where to start, Any suggestions on this problem.

I also need to know how to replace the emergency break. Apparently I don't have one of those either.:crying:

How do I adjust the doors? It's a 2-door model. and right now because the doors sag. I have to slam them shut which i know is not good on the locks

If anyone has the answers to any of these issues please tell me. I can't keep asking my friends and family to get my children and I around. I feel like i'm taking advantage of them. And with the temps getting colder I need to have a way to get my kids around. Thank You for taking the time to read this and help myself and my family

97 Dodge Neon engine reving

I have a 97 Dodge Neon that we dont drive to often but lately when the car is in gear and you press the gas pedal it revs for a second or two then catches into gear. This happens just about everytime we are driving now, either while driving from a dead stop or slowing down to make a turn then trying to speed up again. Not sure if this is transmission related or not.

A second is is that the speedometer works intermittentl. Sometimes it will work all the time others the needed will jump from 0 to the MPH while driving.

Any help on either issues is appreciated.

Back-up light help

OK once I got my daughters neon going after a cylinder head replacement, I did a walk-around and found the back-up lights do not come on. I checked the fuse with a lamp and it good. No power to the back lights. Checked with a DMM. Looked in the haynes book for help but they only show the manual tranny switch location. I see two of them towards the front of the car. A round one with three wire connector, I believe its called the neutral start switch. And there is another one about eight inches to the left of it and on the top. (looking from the top front of the engine) The book does not describe that one. Could that be the back-up light switch? Or the round one on the front side it? Or is in neither?

Thanks

No compression after cylinder head service

Hi all,
Well I just had a cylinder head serviced and installed it into my daughters '98 neon. It started up but idles really bad. I traced it the #1 cylinder. I got spark, I got fuel but when I pulled the spark plug cable and noticed not difference. Checked compression and I have none whatsoever. I put a little oil in to check piston rings and still no compression.

So my question is how can I check the valves without removing the cylinder head again? It is a single overhead cam. I have the haynes book but I don't think it is not much help in showing me how to check the valves.

Does anyone know how I can go about checking them or know where I can find info on-line?

Thanks

I have a 98 Dodge Neon and have to deal with a squealing/sqeaking noise when the car starts up/idles, and when the AC/defrost is turned on in the vehicle. The belts are fairly new........is this problem related to the compressor?? I really don't want to spend a lot of cash fixing. Can I remove fuse or disable the AC belt?? What is remmended?? Thanks
