1994 Jimmy 4x4 Problems - 4hi inop

Well, I searched for 40 pages and cannot seem to find a solution to my problem. The link that I've followed a few times is only for 1998 and up and will not apply to my problem. I own a 1994 GMC S15 Jimmy with the 2 button switch on the left side of the dash. The truck will not engage 4hi at all, not in any gear, not moving, not standing still. 4lo works great, but sometimes both 4hi and 4lo lights light up when engaged. When I push the 4hi button, I can hear the transfer case making a noise (I assume the motor is attempting to engage 4hi). Both the 4hi and 4lo lights will flash a few times but with no 4x4 engagement. I checked for codes and found none. I checked the accuator under the battery but I'm not sure if it is good or not. I am able to move it by hand approximately 1/8-1/4. Is this normal or it supposed to move more? I've heard that its possible for the cable coming off the accuator to seize up but I would like to know for sure. There is vacuum at the accuator, so I do not believe there is a vacuum issue here. Are there any common problems, describing my exact symptoms, that I can look into? Thanks in advance. Jeff

Bought the vehicle from Craigslist in August. Test drove first, everything was great except minor "miss" at idle, squeaking ball joints and engine would not reach operating temp. (Also discovered after filling the fuel tank completly the first time that there was a minor leak just before my rear drivers tire.) Drove this vehicle several hours from home and back with no problem (other than fuel economy had never been great). Finally replaced thermostat 9 days ago, engine now reaches proper operating tempature but..... let the fun begin! Two days after the new thermostat I started it about 20 mins before leaving for work, as I always do. Got in it, drove 5 miles down the road to find that it was idling very erratically and running poorly, especially when slowing down or stopping. Immediately returned home, where it never died but once shut off would not restart. On my way home the check engine light came on-later discovering the code was a Random Misfire. Replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator, as my husband discovered that the side of the intake that the regulator was on was washed out from fuel and wouldn't hold pressure when key was cycled. Attempted to start with no avail, but would now hold pressure. Sprayed it with either, fired right up and ran smooth. Drove to town for test drive which resulted in being towed home. Either wouldn't even restart it after it died the second time. Next day removed and inspected the regulator and reinstalled it, then checked fuel filter, lines and re-checked pressures. Started and let it run for well over half hour, drove it all over town, stopped and filled up fuel tank (still noticed leak) and brought it home with no problems. Started the next morning to "warm up" before leaving for work again, got in it and got to the same 5 mile point before erratic and rough idiling occured yet again. Continued to my destination slowly, with no check engine light this time. We can start vehicle and let run for 20 mins to well over in hour in the driveway no problem. Can even sometimes drive for the better part of an hour and nothing will happen, but everytime at random times once hot it will start to miss, idle rough, and sometimes die. Usually will not immediately restart at this point.

Parts Replaced:
Plugs
Cap and Rotor
Fuel Pressure Regulator

NEW Parts Tried: (And have been returned for their lack of assisting ANY in this matter)
ICM
TPS
Coil (even though old coil sparked fine)
EGR

Tests/Cleaning Attempted and other Ideas we've tried:
Cleaned IAC
Tested MAP Sensor
Tested Fuel Pressure (held within all specs)
All fuel system filters have been checked
Plug Wires are within ohms
Plenty of spark from the plug

On the schedule for tomorrow is testing the o2 sensors. Any help, tips, advice or possible repair options at this point would be MORE than appreciated.

Any ideas what may be causing this issue?

The French guy need your help .
My Blazer is a 2000 4doors LT, 4x4 , V6 4,3l (W) , Automatic gear box .
I have a crack in the upper plastic part driver side of the radiator .
I think it's meaning a change of it .
What are your recomandations (brand , part number ) for such a change without modifications in the connections sizes (bolt on) .
Does one , completely builded with aluminium , needing no modification , exist ?
Thanks for your help and recomandations .

My Blazer has been hard to start for the last couple months. When I get it started it runs like a champ and after it has warmed up it starts with out a hitch. The problem has gotten progressively worse..There are days when it wont start at all.. I relpaced my fuel filter because at one point it was not getting any fuel..that seemed to help for a few days but now same problem...Also used a can of Sea Foam in the gas tank...Could it be some kind of sensor?? Mass air flow or something?? Maybe I just need a tune up?? I don't know?!?! Please help:runaround:

98 Blazer 4L60E Trans Problems

Ive got a 98 Blzer LS 4.3L V6 with the 4L60E trans.
Problems originated with occasioanally slipping out of overdrive after getting warm.Trans would continute to operate, just at a higher RPM.

Just as maintenance and to rule it out as a culprit, I dropped the tranny fluid pan and replaced the filter/screen and refilled the trans with fluid.

Now I am trouble with starting out.If I put it in drive, I need at least 1500RPM to get the truck moving, and its slow to start. At about 15 MPH it seems to 'catch' and I can go.

If I put it all the way down into 1st, it seems to help but does not solve the problem.Once again though after about 15MPH I can throw it into drive and it will shift out fine from there.

I have checked and double checked fluids to make sure and everything is fine there.

Ive read possibly 100 webpages with info on the trans and common problems and talked to several mechanics and heard about 20 different ideas about what may be causing it.

If anyone would care to contribute to the list of possibilities or if youve had a similar experience and care to explain your solution(to either problem) I would greatly appreciate it.

Secondary AIR Pump Relay Question

Any help is extremely appreciated!

I've been searching for awhile now, and have not been able to find any information about this...

My 99 Chevy s10 blazer failed emissions the other day. Cause: Secondary AIR. I went out and bought the new AIR pump, and installed it. The old one had water in it, and didn't seem to want to spin. Slightly melted. I had the girlfriend start the engine, but the pump never kicked on... I'm guessing because I was driving it for awhile, and the engine was not cold?

I checked the big 30 amp fuse beside the battery, and also the small 10 amp fuse, and they were both fine...now the main question... where is the relay at? I noticed that right beside the fuses, was another black cap. I popped that off, but nothing was underneath. It looked like something should go there (2 female inserts), but nothing installed. Is the Relay missing? Is that why it's not working? lol.

Does anyone know the part number for this relay? I'm having a hard time finding info!! :banghead:

Thanks for the help guys!

A/C is fine. Anything I can try myself before I cry and pay full price at a repair shop ? Thanks for any advice.:banghead:

Fuel or electrical problem

I have a 96 S-10 Blazer with the 4.3 engine. My blazer will just die while driving down the road. It doesn't sputter, it dies like you turned the key off. Sometimes it will start right back up and sometimes it won't start until it sits for a few hours. It cranks fine but won't start.
So far I have changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump but still have the problem. I changed the pump because when I'd turn the key on it would jump to 60 psi and then drop to 50 psi. Running it was at 50 psi. I had read on here it needs to be 58 to 60. After $250. and 4 hours I had my new pump in and I'm getting the same pressure reading as before. It starts fine with those reading and runs fine at 50 psi, when it's running. When it dies and won't start I'm still getting the same readings so I assume that it's not a fuel pump problem.
I'm thinking an electrical problem because 2 weeks ago I was driving and it died and wouldn't start and the dome light was on and wouldn't go off. I had to pull a fuse to get the dome light off. After the vehicle started the next day I put the fuse back in and the dome light was fine. The last time it died on me was after changing the fuel pump. I drove it for an hour and it ran fine. The next day I got in and drove 2 blocks and the ABS light came on and it died. It sat for about 4 hours and then started. I'm scared to drive it anywhere now.
Sorry this is so long but I'm stumped.
Does this sound like an electrical problem? What do I check now?
I might mention that it give no codes.
Thanks for your time.

99 Blazer LT Multiple Codes

I have a 99 Blazer LT 4WD 160k. My wife was driving it home from work and it started bucking and having a really hard time going more than 30 mph. Even shifting through the gears manually, the truck still doesn't have power and seems like it's having a horrible shifting problem. Barely making it home, she popped the hood and I checked it out. It smelled awful, like fluid was burning. I haven't gotten under it yet to check it out, but I thought I saw some tranny fluid on the transmission. I noticed the Check Engine Light was on (has been for awhile, my fault for not checking it sooner) and I plugged in the code reader. To my amazement, there were 5 codes.

P0101 - MAF or VAF CKT Range/Perf
P0147 - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0446 - EVAP Emission Control System Vent Circuit Malfunction
P0452 - EVAP Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Low

Has anyone had any issues like this before? The truck barely drives at all, smell like fluid is burning, recently had a tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor), never had a problem like this before. Any guidance would be great. I'm don't have a lot of equipment to check pressures and am really not very familiar with electrical systems. Please provide a little bit of guidance. If it's a really complicated issue, I may have to bring it to the mechanic. I don't have a lot of time either with working so much. Any help would be great.

Thank you!

81 Blazer No power to the headlight switch

I installed a transmission and now the headlights dont work. They did work before the trans install and now they dont. I am not sure how this even relates to each other, I just think it is a coincidence that they dont work. There is power at the fuse box, but I am lost after that on where to look. Any info would be great.
