even with these detailed directions i cant find anything!

under the hood, on the evaporator housing, behind the accumulator. It should be between the fan, and the evaporator, and have a sorta square plug with 4 or 5 wires i think. Itll have 2 small screws holding it on.

is it really that far behind the accumulator? thats the black cylinder for the a/c right? i cant seem to find anything. yet guys are posting how easy they are to change......... what am i missing here? on a 97 f-150 4.6L do i need to remove something to make it easier?

i just bought a 97 f-150 4.6L with high miles. 223,000. on the drive home it seemed to have no power and the check engine light was on. the guy told me it had a bad exhaust leak and he thought it needed o2 sensors.
i had it tested at autozone and they said bank 1 lean and bank 2 lean. i came on here and found it was possible that it could be because of the exhaust leak. both manifolds were not connected to the y-pipe because of broken rusted studs. i used the-hush stud repair kit which worked awesome. disconnected my battery and now the check engine light is off.
not sure if its going to stay off or not. but it runs smooth at idle but when i hit the gas is putters and bogs down before it revs up. why is it doing this? mass air sensor? i did hear some kind of sound coming from under the engine cover. i listened and felt around. it seemed like it was coming from a cylinder that looks like it has a round cap on it and a dual line vacuum going into the bottom of it. had a weird vibration going thru it. maybe it was malfunctioning. not sure what it is tho.

Multiple Computer Codes - 2002 Ford F150 4.2L Engine

2002 Ford F150 4.2L Engine

Image: http://www.thinkrolland.com/images/externallylinked/allfaults.jpg

The OD light is blinking as well and the CEL is of course ON.

Doesn't all that showing up at once indicate that the main engine computer (ECU, ECM, PCM, etc..) is probably fried?

Have any of you seen all these codes on your truck and it was the computer or was it actually ALL or 1 of these items?

I have recommended he try a new used computer. What ya'll think?

Curiously enough the shop told him that his catalytic converters were bad (2 shops said that), but that really was quite unbelievable to me. He has about 140k miles on it too.

Trim on F-150 is peeling off causing door to not open

I have a thick trim on both sides of the truck, I am assuming it is for a bumber so anything light wouldn't roll into it and scratch the paint. However, at the edge of my door near the hinge side it is starting to peel off and when I open my door it catches and stops the door from opening all the way and also is peeling back more. What do you do about that besides rip it all off the truck everywhere? Is there some kind of glue or adhesive that you can apply or is it a technical thing that has to be brought in to get repaired?

Thanks for any advise,

Pwr Door locks lock by themselves even when door already locked

My friend has a 01 f150 screw. His power door locks were locking when the truck was put in drive like normal. But now it does that and then randomly locks all the doors again even when they are already locked. Does that throughout the day randomly.
I found the page on disabling the auto locking feature
Thank You
I disabled the auto door locking feature and it doesn't seem to be doing it anymore, but i would like to figure out whats wrong and fix it.

Wanted to add this info as well.. he has a problem with the window controls on every door except the drivers. you can only open the windows from the master/drivers switch. The window unlocking switch on the master controls is not working. he replaced it with a new and fried it almost immediately. At $100 buck too.. OUCH

I searched and went through 19 pages of door lock probs and didn't find a similar problem.
But I did find out why his gauges would all max out and then drop to "0" when he started it up. A bad battery.... i did notice it was cranking a little slowly, but i would have never guessed it would have been the cause of the gage problem.
He had a IAC problem as well, but i knew that one.

thanks for the great resource for Ford truck repairing and maintenance.

Also i cant remember if it was here or not but somebody had a link to get into the OHIO library system and access to repair and tech info for our trucks.
Does that ring a bell with anybody?

Thanks
Tony

My friend told me today that the autolock feature is back. So I don't know why it would activate again.
