1992 4 cyl auto. Transmission is slow to engage in forward. engages in reverse right away. once it engages in forward it shifts with no problem. sometimes it engages right a way but usually it takes from 30 seconds to several minutes. Does anyone know what is the cause?

2000 ford ranger, Recently I found a odd little part on the floorboard of my truck. It a steel rod about 1.25" long, about 3/16 dia with a knurled end. At the same time the column shifter started acting funny, I have a hard time locating drive and it just seems loose, also you can now change gears and take it out of park without pulling the shifter toward you. I know this isn't correct. Ive removed the plastic covers but cant figure out where this little part goes. Any ideas? A part diagram of the column would be helpful but I cant locate one online.

1993 Ranger apparent brake issue.

Drove the truck and everything seemed fine. Couple weeks later, I moved the truck and engaged the parking brake. When I went to move the truck back (forward) it would not budge.

At first, I thought it was the transmission so I checked the fluids and replaced as necessary. Then I tried going forward again and noticed that it moves exactly how a car would if you have the brakes pressed down while applying the gas. I engaged and un-engaged the emergency brake a few times but that didn't help. So I'm thinking that I have a brake caliper stuck or the emergency brake is stuck. Only thing is, the truck moves in reverse without any resistance like normal. Brake fluid is good, and seems normal.

Can anybody help or point me in some directions?

1990 inter. check eng. light with loss of power

I have a 1990 Ranger, 2wd, At, 2.9L with 162 k. Occassionally the check engine light will come on and the engine will bog for a second or two. This only seems to occur in city driving. Also, while sitting at a light, it may suddenly increase rpm to 1500 for a few seconds. Could this be an Idle Air Control problem? If so, where is it? Thanks

I have a 97 w/ 4.0 and 158k. While doing my last oil change I noticed a seepage leak at the oil filter adapter where it bolts to the block. So my question is, does anyone know how long the bolt is? The exhaust manifold happens to end there, and i have about 3/4" to get that bolt out. Dealer has no spec on the bolt. Any help would be appreciated.
