I cleaned my antilock sensors on the front of my 2000 Surburban and when I cleaned the passenger side the o-ring fell apart. I called my local dealer on the part, but Chevrolet doesn't list it!? I am currently waiting to hear back from them to see if they can at least get me the dimensions of the o-ring so I can get it somewhere else. Does anybody have any idea what size this o-ring is?

Thanks,

I have a 1994 suburban built in canada.
it has the 4L60e trans. I had a new trans installed and it worked fine for a day. now will not get 3rd or 4th. it goes into nuteral from second.
I have replaced the 3-4 shift solenoid and tested the wiring harness from the trans to the powertrain module and it is all good.
how can I test the powertrain module? what else should I be loking at?

the speedo works and I can shift to first and drive then shift to second and it will drive but if I put the shifter to 3rd (D) or 4th (DD) then it goes to nuteral.

I'm having some headlight problems. The low beams work fine but when I try to switch on the high beams, all the headlights go out. Kinda scary when you're riding down a country road at night. It happened intermittently at first and now all I can use is the low beams. I've got the steering wheel off and the instrument cluster cover out of the way to work on any switches. Sometimes I have to wiggle the headlight switch to get my dash lights to come on. Any ideas on what could be causing the headlight problem?

04 Suburban - Front diff. whining / binding

Took my 04 66k Suburban 1500 4WD into dealer to replace transfer case encoder motor sensor. They noticed right front diff. axle seal leaking. They replaced seal.

First time on snow, I put it in 4High and front diff. sounded like it was in 4LO. deep whining and when you turned steering wheel, while driving slowly, it would start to bind up and shutter.

Tried to back out of a parking space and had steering wheel cranked all the way over. Suburban wouldn't move until wheel was straightened.

They indicated that they filled diff. up .

Any ideas of how they screwed it up?

Are there shims / spacers that they might not have replaced?

Thanks,

FJ

I have a 2002 1500 Suburban LT. Mileage 84,000 The Service Ride Control light is on. I read in my manual this has to do with the autoride system. I am mom of 3 don't really haul things around on an average day (just weekend trips luggage sometimes 4-wheeler). I am wondering a few things:

1) Is it ok to drive with this light on?

2) What is the cause of the light being on?

3) About how much would the repair be?

4) Could it be one easily by someone that is not a certified mechanic but good with tools and hands? Is in construction field, if that tells you anything.

5) Does it have to be repaired for safety?

Neither one of us is working, so if this is something we can do ourselves, the better.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

I occasionally have an issue on start-up that I can only describe as the vehicle slamming into gear. It happens a second after it starts. The vehicle will even lurch forward a bit. The transfer case failed recently and was replaced, but this problem existed before it failed and exists after. Any ideas?

While installing a new Dynomax S/S cat back exhaust system on my 1999 Suburban K1500 I noticed that the big heat shield running from the muffler past the cats had rusted through in quite a few places. I was surprised to see that it seemed to be welded to the underbody and was not replaceable. Anyone have experience with this situation? If so, what was your remedy?

This may be an amateurish question, but here goes anyhow....

After a trip my Sub sat out overnight and the next day it flat wouldn't start. Thought maybe I ran down the battery somehow, got a jump, and drove the trip back no prob. Sub sat for 2 days, then my wife took it around town. Was slow starting on her last stop but made it home. Very next day we go to take it and again it's too dead to start. Jump it and now I get the warning message listed in my title. Drive it like this and the voltmeter is showing 14-15V so it's not anything but the battery that I can tell. Also, the rig started just fine after sitting in the cold all that night and the message went away.

My question is, is there anything other than the alternator that can affect how the battery is charged? This rig has so many FREDs that I'm worried there might be. I assume it's the battery with a bad cell, but you can't buy aftermarket yet and I assume the dealer will nail me for $200+ for one.

My 99 Suburban 1500 139,000 had the black ice feel often mentioned in threads when turning, it is a scary feeling when it jerks. I even saw a thread where a Suburban owners child who was a new driver flipped their truck because of it. My old mechanic disconnected mine and told me I did not need it. The wheel is very easy to turn with not much of a return to center feel, but I have been driving like this for about 7,000 miles and have gotten used to it. My son is a new driver and drives the truck like this. I am nervous about replacing the EVO because I dont want the new one to go bad while he is driving. I know I have posted several threads about small things wrong with my Suburban (We have a love hate relationship). I am concerned about this due to my son driving. Should I replace it? Any input would be great.
