I hear the pump running but acts like no fuel. Was driving along and van quit running but electrical is ok...checked out all fuses and relays. Recently someone siphoned out fuel and ruined sender but van has been running ok for a couple of months... had to replace filler hose and filler spout over $250.00. Sender unit reads from 3/4 to full ok.. but below 3/4 gauge swings from empty to full. Just filled tank and went 38 miles when it quit running.

Could use some fresh ideas on this. 2002 astro. Died on us and had to haul it home (again). Anyway replaced dist cap and rotor. Started right up and seemed ok. Drove about 6 miles and it tried to die again. Nursed it back home and it's still here. It will start and run at idle not too bad. Can get 1/4 to 1/2 throttle then it dies. Acts like it runs out of fuel. Is hard to start after it dies. have to give it 1/2 to 3/4 throttle till it catches then back off. replaced the fuel filter, TPS, MAF. Fuel pressure stays up 60-63 doesn't vary much. Compression is good. Could it be the cat?

I dont know what else to do. Could it be the oil switch? It looks ok cosmetically but I dont know. Please help.

I'm needing to buy a van for my business. Never had a van or worked on one in my entire life. I'm wondering what are the pros & cons between the Express line and the Astros? Is one easier to work on than the other or more reliable maybe, how much more space does an Express really have inside, are they both available almost bare bones so I can build my own shelves inside, is one less expensive than the other usually? Why would someone buy an Astro over an Express or vice versa? I'm trying to research this kind of stuff. I have a video production business and would be using the van to transport lights, stands, dolly's, etc.

I am thinking the computer maybe junked out. Ok I bought a van around six months ago. It is a 1997 coversion van with the 5.7 tbi in it. When I bought it the fuel pump was bad so I temp. fixed it by hammering on the tank and it unstuck. It had been fine ever since. Last week I pull it in the garage to pull the junk 4l60e to have the clutches replaced, reinstall the trans and nothing, the van would crank over but the pump was not turning on, I try a new relay and nothing. I assume its a bad pump, I then install the new pump and the same thing just crank and no start. I also couldnt get the thing to really hit on ether either which is odd. I then check the old pump and it comes right on. So I keep trying to check grounds and make sure I didnt unhook anything on the trans job that would keep the pump from turning on and I cant find anything. Then today the battery was dead from all the cranking so I try to jump start it and cranked it over a few times and nothing then on the fourth try it started cranking a everything quit. NO more cranking, no interior lights, no dash lights, radio or anything. Keep in mind this was with jumper cables hooked up so there was plenty of power. I checked all of the relays I could think of and they are all great. Is there a main relay somewhere or what? Im thinking maybe the computer went out and maybe thats why it wouldnt turn the pump on then it crapped completely out when jumping it. Please help me.

1998 Express Cranks but no Start

Hey yall,
I have a 1998 3500 5.7l Express, I parked it the other night and in the morning it would crank but won't start.
Has Spark
Replaced Fuel Filter.
I tested the fuel pressure and it jumps right to 60 psi.
I replaced the Crank sensor, cam sensor and distributor rotor.
I've tried to spray starter fluid down the intake and it has no effect.
Shows no codes on reader.
While cranking it sometimes will "kickback" or burp out vapor and air from the intake manifold out through the airbox.
Distributor rotor does turn while cranking, ruling out the timing chain?
If anybody has any ideas they'd be greatly appreciated, this one has me really stumped :banghead:
Thanks, Kevin :icon16:
