2006 impala rims on 2000 malibu

Hey Guys, Im in need of some serious help here. I bought a set of 2006 Impala rims with 225/60/16 tires to put on my 2000 Malibu. Everything bolted up fine, drove fine, until I started down the highway. Saw smoke out the back of the car, pulled over to check and the struts had eaten into the inside of the tire.
Does anyone know if there is a way to make these tires and rims work with my vehicle or did I just mess myself up?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Others bolt on to the front of the engine with set shapes and hole patterns and the "weep-hole" is always on the bottom. Well this pumps hole pattern wouldn't line up with the weep-hole on the bottom but lined up with weep-hole at the top. Seemed strange to me, but is this normal?

I have been working on my dads 2000 malibu. The car was putting out a lot of white smoke. I thought it was the LIM gasket. I replaced it last week with the new fel-pro kit. I only put RTV on the two ends not on the gasket as per gaskets saying no sealant. Put the car together and was still smoking. Today I disassembled again and when I took the valve covers off there was coolant puddled up around the springs. How is the coolant getting there? Head gasket or did I do something wrong with LIM gasket. Thanks

What to do - Reverse went out in 98 Malibu

Hello all,

New to the forum and I'm glad I found it. I have a 1998 Chevy Malibu with about 153,000 on the odometer. Before my first to second gear in the transmission was having some trouble as I was low on fluid due to a leak in the trans gasket. One weekend I removed the pan and old gasket and put a new filter in. I put about 6 quarts of the correct trans fluid in along with Lukas trans fix, which by itself is yet another quart. Things started to improve immediately after the procedure via the test drive and as always the torque converter was fully functional. The reverse gear was getting a little rough as I would increase RPM's but there was only one speed the gear wanted to go in - SLOW. Just the other day as I am backing out of my driveway the reverse stopped working. I heard no sound, and there was no jerk from the transmission; the reverse gear simply would not engage. The car drives and shifts fine when I am going forward, but once again, will not go backwards. It will roll in neutral, but not when in reverse.

On the above scenario, what is going on? Is it a module or solenoid perhaps or do I just need to have the entire thing replaced? Please let me know either way and thank you for your time.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what gasket to use when replacing the Intake Manifold Gaskets?
I have been doing some research and it looks like the best I am seeing are Fel-Pro. Is that the case? I would really like to find one I don't have to replace in 30,000 miles!
Thanks!

Lately, within a couple of minutes after I start driving this car, the gas guage suddenly drops down to empty, the low fuel light comes on and the ding-ding-dinger alarm dings. I just keep driving for another 10-15 minutes in town without any problem. Next time I start the car the guage works normal, until I'm on the road for a few minutes then the problem comes back. Two questions please:
1.What is the problem?
2. Will this condition shut down the car ecause it thinks it is out of fuel even though the tank is full?

It seems that with this car problems come in bunches! 99 Malibu 3.1 J

I fixed the intake gasket leak as the title states.

Got to pass inspection this year by taking advantage of one of those periods when the check engine light with the egr code of P1404 shut off on its own.

Now I'm noticing small spot marks / puddles of anti freeze right below the radiator. In fact, upon further inspection I see that there's an obvious leak from the radiator.

Here's the question - are radiators on these cars prone to leak or could it simply be a thing where the mechanic while working on the intake thing not tighten, whatever needs to be tightened on the radiator. I would hate to go to Firestone and have them tell me that I'll need a new radiator, when the problem is a simple loose hose or something dumb.

My wife took the car in for an oil change today. Oil change folks alerted us to some brown sludgy coolant in the reservoir tank. After taking a look for myself it appears the coolant is brown and sludgy. Some folks have told me it may have oil in it, others have said it's a bad mix of old and new coolants. I've also looked at the forums dealing with intake manifold gaskets and head gaskets. How can I better diagnose this problem? Is it bad gaskets or bad coolant? How would i know if it's a bad head gasket or intake manifold? Thanks for the help!

BTW it's a 2003 malibu
