I have a 93 Regal Custom. The engine was running but when I turned the ignition switch to the off position and removed the key the engine was still running. Was only able to shut off vehicle by disconnecting the battery. I thought it may be the ignition lock but have also read it could be a arm/rack mechanism that could be broken. When turning the ignition switch it no longer feels like it's catching like it had done before when going through the accessory/off/on positions. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
:banghead:hey all,
I have a 2000 Regal LS with the dual ac. My heater was working on and off, but latley is been off...so i figured i should start with the fuses...fuses are fine on the door and under the hood, and by fuses i mean all the colored ones. so then i went and got a new controller. and still nothin. i dont have any idea about what relay or if there is a fuse or somethin that im overlooking bc of the the names on the fuse list. the thing thats strange is that my cigarette lighter stopped working too. so im at a loss right now as to what else to do. Im in illinois, and the winters out here make hell look like a vacation spot. so any help would be greatly appreciated. :banghead:

1990 Regal 3.1L gives high idle cold or hot ONLY during initial startup!!

Hello,
So i have a '90 Regal custom with a 3.1 Liter. Car is well maintained and low mileage (under 40k currently.) I parked it for the night and the next morning i noticed that when i started it up it seemed like it was idleing rather high. I paid no attention to it since i figured it was just cold in the garage. After a minute the "check engine" light came on. So i checked the code and it turned out to be code 35 i believe which is the IAC. I read in the manual to check the resistance between the terminals on the sensor and they were within spec. I decided to just purchase a new one from Advance auto parts.
Replaced the sensor and i still have the same issue.

So i decided to drive the car around and after a minute of driving the light goes away and the car starts to idle normal. I drove the car for about 20minutes and then shut it off, pulled the ECU fuse out to reset the computer. Waited a couple minutes, put it back in and turned the car back on to let the computer reset.
Same thing happens.

I tried numerous times to figure this out.
Car has absolutely NO vacuum leaks. TPS sensor is new as well. So basically the car gives a high idle when it's cold AND even if the engine is hot! So i can shut the car off for 30 seconds, turn it back on and it'll idle high and check engine light will come on.

Anyone have this issue?

I haved just replaced the Fuel Sender Assembly and now the gas guage works, but the RANGE still doesn't, the buttons have a reset, but it only resets the oil life, or MPG, it doesn't reset the RANGE. How can I do this?

97 GS, Fuel Pump Not Running

I have a 97 Grandsport.

Last winter the car would not start, it just cranked over.
I was told it was one of three things, Fuel Filter, CPS, or Fuel Pump.
I replaced the Fuel Filter for starters and didn't have any more problems.

Last weekend we hit a deer with this car, had to straighten the radiator support, replace a/c condensor & radiator. Soon will be replacing the bumper cover headlights and fog lights. Luckily no real damage to hood or fenders. After this the wife said it smoked, I told her it's probably antifreeze burning off after the radiator work? I checked all fluid levels and OK.

However this damage lead me do check out a lead from a former post about a fuel pump resistor behind the passenger headlight, I looked for this and couldn't find it?

Saturday morning the car wouldn't start, we had a really cold night, later that day it did start, I suspected a possible frozen fuel line and the tank was around a 1/4 tank. I added a bottle of Heat and filled the tank, drove it around for 20 minutes stoping and then starting with no problems, and didn't see any smoke as described by the wife. Sunday morning it wouldn't start again. I tried a few times that day and nothing. Later that night it started only to run for 3-4 seconds and then die.

I do not hear the fuel pump come on for the 2-3 seconds when the ignition is turned to the run position. I was told to use a rubber mallet to bang on the tank some and see if this jars the pump into running, still nothing. I want to check this resitor if it does exist on my Regal, and I want to check voltage at the fuel pump, any help guys? I have the rear seat removed and can see a three wire lead to the tank assembly, how can I check voltage (schematic). I can not say if it's good or not and want to check.

Also, the fuel level gauge has not worked since we got the car two years ago. And the car has had some intermittent electrical problems which is why I want to check before buying a $500 dollar pump/level assembly.

Alright, so my 95 3.8L regal gran sport stalls whenever I stop the car. I have to keep one foot on the gas to keep it around 1000rpms or it will stall every time, without fail. If I don't keep a foot on the gas it will bounce between 500 and 1000 rpms and stall. After start up it will run fine for the first 3-5 miles, then the problems start. Also, sometimes it won't turn over right away. It cranks for a good 5-10 seconds and then turns over. This doesn't happen every time and it always starts right up after it's been running, including after it stalls. The battery is new and I just had the fuel pump replaced (the stalling started less than a month after replacing the fuel pump). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

2000 Regal GS Heater Core Replacement

The windows in this car fog up frequently if the AC does not run all the time. I must add small amounts of coolant to it. I suspect that the heater core has a leak. Looking up under the dash it is not obvious how the core is removed. Any information or pictures would be appreciated.

CORRECTION: After closer inspection it appears that the core is okay and the problem is a large leak on the passenger side. During a recent storm the ride side front became drenched. The Buick has some really nice foam padding and insulation beneath the carpet which holds much water. If anyone reading this post knows of a "common" leak point on the Regal right front please let me know.

My brother is a mechanic for 25+ years but hasn't handled Buicks for some time (mostly BMW and Mercedes) - needs some ideas on what to check for. He thought maybe the module, but in reading these posts, I'm questioning if it's the ignition switch? Anyone else have this problem? I'm also experiencing a non-working cruise control at the same time - light comes on and immediately goes off on the dash. Thanks for any help!

A couple of weeks ago I replaced the broken turn signal/cruise control/windshield wiper control/etc., etc., on my daughter's 1999 Regal. Everything went fine, no problems at all. Everything worked great afterwards.

Now, however, things have changed!! I just took the car out for a drive, and OMG, what a change!! It's night, so the lights come on OK, along with the dash lights. So far, so good. Now things get interesting. I turn on the right turn signal, the turn signal doesn't work, but several of the idiot lights on the dash come on, and stay on! It gets better. When I turn on the left turn signal, all, and I mean all, of the lights go out, and the car dies. The radio dies, along with the heater, everything goes dead. Kind of disconcerning when you're going down the interstate at 60 MPH!!! :eek7:

None of the fuses blow, the car starts up again, no problem. I can't drive the car like this, I need some serious help!!! Could one of the various modules cause a problem like this?? I got the MFS at a junk yard, maybe it's gone bad?? A MFS is almost $300 online new, I can't afford it. :banghead:

:eek7:

2001 Regal LS - need to replace the head gasket.
I tried to search but have come up empty. I seem to remember that there was a link to a video that walked you through this process. Anyone have a link to this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
