Does anyone know what consumer vehicle to date is statistically "the best" in fuel economy when it comes to using normal unleaded gas as energy?

Do not list:
- Vehicles that are not readily available in the US.
- Hybrids/Diesels/Electrics
- Experimental cars (like those ones the Stanford students design every year)

Not sound like a smart A$$, but anything out there with 3 cyclinders. I knew the Chevy Merto got about 50 MPG. I think it was made by Susuki. Volkswagon has a diesel that gets up in the 40 MPG. Chevy and Toyota has 2.0 Liter engines that 38 MPH ( Highway) US Government has a website, thur th EPA that lists all the Cars sold in the US, with it's MPG. Sorry dude, I'm drawing a blank right now. Wish I could be more help.

Most likely the smallest/lightest car with the least powerful and smallest engine will give you the lowest fuel consumption so to get any usefuel out of this you need to specify what kind (class) of car you're looking for.
