Plug "blew" out of #6 cylinder

My wife drives a 97 SE and the other night comung home from church as she was accelerating away from a light she heard a loud pop like something broke and then an awful racket. Got it home and when I looked at it on Monday I found that the plug had basically blown out of the cylinder and was still connected tothe plug wire. Plug didn't seem to be stripped. Threads looked good. Changed the plugs and wires about 10k miles ago and am certain they were all tight. Changed all six plugs and wires today but still has a misfire on the same cylinder. Car has almost 200k on it. Have the opportunity to purchase a supercharged 3.8 with tranny, ecm, and harness with 52k on it for $600 from one of my customers. Any suggestions?

If I'm not mistaking...all 97 SE's came with the 3800, so i would assume this one has the 3800 and not the 3100?

do you have a way to check compression on the #6 cylinder? If you look inside the cylinder...does the top of the piston look white, or did the spark plug look white? (this would indicate coolant in the cylinder)

Did you do a compression test while you had the plugs out by chance??

Didn't check compression. Seems like I need to. Plugs looked normal. What should compression be? Yes it's a 3800

I doubt that the plug blew out. If it had blown out then the threads on the spark plug or head would be severely damaged. It most likely was loose & just fell out. Compression will probably be at least 150lbs but it's more important that all six readings are fairly close.

Sounds like that's what happened. Although I thought the wire would be twisted if that was the case. Changed plugs and wires and drove it today with no problems.
