Automatic sux.
TT 300ZX would be better.
the NA version is about as fast as a SR powered 240 fb maybe slower.
Go with the SR 240sx FB 5-speed!!!
:D

I voted S13 even though they don't have much of a backseat, a z32 backseat is roughly the same size though....

The S14 backseats are ever so slightly bigger than the Z32 backseats...I can attest to that since I have sat in both of them and owned both of them...

The S13 backseats are tight...kind of on par w/the Z32 backseats

FYI, the older maxima (the mid-late 90s one) is faster than the NA z32 I hear. I think they have the same engine, but the max is much lighter.

About 200 lbs lighter but still...it had 190HP vs. the 222HP the NA had...so it'd outleg it

yeah and a Maxima is FWD... if u want a fwd car get a new Spec V or even an older SE-R and turbo it. I dunno about the rear seats of the S14 but ya the Z32 and S13 backseats look identical cept the trim.

If u want a good 4 seater car.....

2002 Spec V SER(4 door)
older SE-R(2 door)
92-95 Ford Taurus SHO
94-96 Impala SS

theres lots of others but those are ones Id choose if I had to get a 4 seater for your purposes.... Id probably take the SHO over all of them in 5spd trim. I know its a ford but the SHO's are damn nice and have a japanese engine made by yamaha that is a work of art, bolt ons can get u to 300hp stock is 220hp, they also make superchargers for it in the 4k range that bump hp to 350hp+ for stage I supercharger.

Plus people make strut bars, Eibach/Intrax springs, few kinds of struts, roll bars.... upgrade to 96+ Taurus brakes..... u can make it handle decently for a fwd car....its no highly tuned 240sx though.

I also like the new Spec V's if u want a new car those are a good choice.

Ya id go for the Spec V man i love that car!!! its a real nice car seats up to 5 and can smoke almost anything stock!! 6 speed VLSD standard whats there not to like. too bad its FWD but you want back seats so i guess its okay :D :D

ok, wehn i say backseats, i mean seats in the back for people to sit in. any back seat will do. they can bitch and complain, but as long as they have a ride thats cool with me (cause im in the front with no problems :D )

i can fit 5 in my s14 too , they calin it "humpimg" cause 1 person hasta ride on the hump between the 2 buckets. but hey, its not my ass bruising

The 300ZX looks the best- but without two friends Turbo and Turbo- it really isn't much to write home about- the S13 is the best bet out of them all- but if you like your S14 then why change?

just get a manual tranny shoved in your S14. that's my suggestion.

but i have a really low paying jbo that barely makes up for the car insurance and cellphone bill.

a tranny swap would cost me 3k since i cant do it myself. plus i really like the 2+2 despite what people have been telling me, but a quick s13 sounds really good too.

my s14 is pretty valuable and selling it could get me a zx or an sr or ka-t'd s13.

thats why i dropped this thread in, thanks again for your opinons guys:)

Ya i personaly like the looks of the 300zx!! i was gona pick that up instead of my 240sx once upon a time, but the insurence for the zx is ahell of alot more then the sx so if you say insurence was a problem then id pass on the zx compleetly!!! sticking with your s14 i see nothing wrong with that but if you realy want to have some fun then get the S13 with the extra money you can do some mods zoom zoom!!!:bloated: :bloated:

remember me?

i'd keep the s14 and just change to manual if you want manual bad enough. 2nd choice would be the s13 w/ sr. 300's are nice but I dont think i'd want one unless if it was TT

that's why my friends love my backseat

it's the LOVE SEAT..... lol

they get so close to the girl that there's no way nothing can happen. there is one advantage to no leg room ;-)

GO WITH THE S13 WITH SR20! if it was a tt 300zx then u should go for that but since its a N/A then i would go with the S13. Just my opinion :D its up to u

The Taurus SHO is a pretty kickass car. Sure, its domestic.. but yes, the motor is made by Yamaha and very durable. The problem is, uhm.. the REST of the car is made by Ford and lacks in every department. I have talked to quite a few SHO owners with heavily modified vehicles, they like them a lot but have spent a LOT of time and money cleaning up Ford's production mishaps. If you dont mind torque-steer and Ford crapiness, then consider it because its not bad.. especially being that its a sleeper.

The NA 300Z is as useful as an NA Supra, they are NOT useful at all. They are heavier versions of the 240SX and IMO, not ideal for fixing up. A good buddy of mine has an NA Z32 4-seater, its a nice car but it doesnt perform like an S13. Yes, it has more power but NO, its not as nimble. If you are looking for more stability, its got that. But remember, that additional HP is lost with its weight. Consider the Z if you can afford a high-maint turbo car.

S13 should be out of the question, the seats in the back are near useless. S14's are beautiful cars, you should keep it regardless if its auto. The auto conversion is a fucking SNAP to do, any qualified shop should be able to do it.. and it DOESNT cost big money. Save yourself the hassle of selling/buying another car, search through the net/forums and research whats NEEDED to convert the car. Get the parts from the scrapper and do the swap when you have time.

Honestly, I converted my car to 5-speed for pocket change. You can do some of the time consuming stuff yourself. The heavy work (installing the clutch and transmission) can EASILY be handled by a knowledgeable transmission shop. Take my word on it, its NOT rocket science.. you just need to prepare by gathering all the parts.

Oh, and about power.. you have a KA24DE.. why not buy a turbo kit if you want more power? You can EASILY get a nice bolt-on turbo kit for that motor. I know PLENTY of turbo KA owners putting down VERY respectable figures.. and their motors are running STRONG.

Attend more 240SX meets, the nation-wide convention is happening in Atlanta this year.
