A friend of mine recently got a bunch of old, open automotive titles (dating from the 1950's and earlier) in some stuff he picked up at a swap meet. He would like to know if they have any value to a collector or otherwise, as long as it's legal. Some of the titles (from Arizona) do not show a VIN number for the vehicle, but only the engine number. Obviously, this creates the basis for getting legal documentation on a old, titleless car so long as it matches the description on the title (e.g., 1934 Ford cpe.) and is lacking an engine. However, one wonders if this is illegal (one suspects it is not). Anyway, I'd appreciate any feedback from participants in the forum on this matter.
