I have a 2001 windstar that the check engine light came and then started flashing... I took it to autozone to get the codes read and they couldn't read them? I tried a a second autozone just in case there was something wrong with there tester and nope it is my van. By this point my van is running rough and I really need to know how I can get the codes read some other way? Any ideas? Thanks

Curious< do your power mirrors work???? On my 98 the power mirror and circuit for the hook up for scanner are on the same fuse. No.1 in fuse panel, 10 amp fuse. Not sure if it is the same on a 01. Look in your owners manual, it should tell you if it is the same fuse.

hope this helps

I checked this morning and the power mirrors work fine. Could it just be a different fuse? I don't have a manual to check. thanks

The 2001 is wired slightly differently, so the datalink connector is on fuse #17, rated at 20 amps and located in the interior fuse panel. That fuse also feeds the cigar lighter, so if the fuse is blown then the lighter socket also won't be working. You can download an owners' manual for free from this Ford website (https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals/default.asp).

it could also be a fairly basic code reader which won't pull the codes for which the CEL is flashing. Trans comes to mind right off the bat. You may need a ford, or more advanced, code reader.

Thank you so much! It was the # 17 fuse as I knew my lighter did not work. I changed it and received error codes P0171, P0174 which as I understand is quite common for the van:mad:. I also got codes P0303, P0304 misfires as well as P0352 Ignition coil. Wish me luck
