Gas Smell

I have a 2001 venture. Intermitent smell of gas in the passenger cabin. You can also smell gas in the garage when the vehicle has been parked overnight. Checked all lines and hoses and they seem to be fine. Took it to dealer and they could not find anything wrong. Has anyone had this problem before? Any help would be appreciated.

Tbl with EVAP system, but no codes!
Fuel is under pressure with engine off, did you check fuel rails, and injector seals?

My www.alldata.com (http://www.alldata.com) expired, trying doing a visual + nose with engine off!

I have done visuals several times both with and without engine running and under hood and under vehicle. It kind of irks me that the dealer could find nothing wrong, but when driving with friends last weekend they smelled it also.

Set your air cond fan to recycle cabin air, so you don't die.
Need to find out, if it's the cabin, engine fuel, or the exhaust from the car in front of you!

I am sure it is not from cars in front of me as you can sometimes smell gas when the van has been sitting in the garage all night. I have not seen any signs of leakage. Does anyone out there know if there is some kind of dye that you can put in the tank to detect leaks?

Check your "Fuel Pressure Regulator". That's what it was when my car smelled like gas. Let us know

Your fuel pressure regulator is probably on top of the engine way in the back before the fuel rail. it can be a pain to get to.

My FPR is on the fuel rail towards the front on the end of the fuel rail drivers side, has a line comming from bottom and a vac line on top. Might let it run a while, park it, let it sit a few minutes, then pull the vac line off the FPR and see if gas comes out - definite indication of a bad FPR. Hows the gas mileage been?

Pressurize the system, then trace the lines with a Benz-o-matic...you'll find your leak then....

Check for corroded lines underneath the van. That appears to be my problem.
