I have a 1998 Trooper that has ran perfect for 148K and now I have a coolant leak. No leak outside of block but ontop of Spark Plug Ports I have found coolant on one side of the motor. Trooper still runs smooth and no smoking of the exhaust at all. Could this be a Upper and Lower Intake Manifold gasket on the one side?

Ok I was told that a compression test would tell if its the head gasket. Is this true?

Aa engine compression test and a cooling system leakdown test might help pinpoint the problem.
