Forced air induction

This is kind of silly but it seems that a lot of you know your stuff so I'll through this out there. What would happen if you were to rig your air intake so that you could connect an air hose to it. Then you get a shop air compressor and run it in the passenger seat and force 120psi into the intake? I just thought that would be funny, and I'm kind of curious as to actually what would happen. :D

sounds pretty cool, but how would u power it? That would kill your battery in 2 minutes.

Gasoline man! I'm talkin a 5 hp generator.

well, some companies make electric fans that u stick into the intake. they claim 5-15 hp. try it and see what happens. Won't the generator get hot and burn ur seats. and it will be crazy loud too. dont forget to have the air filtered.

What about just a hose that comes from outside(infront) and goes to near the intake? like the hose picks up cold air when you go fast and shoot it at the intake??? would that work?

the air pressure would drop too much by the time it worked its way to the engine.unless u put it right on the filter and then u'd rip through the filter in a very short while.

no it wont work. psi is a measure of pressure within a certain space or resistance. a small compressor cant flow enough cfm to build substantial pressue in the engine/manifold. 120psi going through a 1/2" hose would not = 120psi filling 1834cc of displacement plus the head, intake manifold, and piping's volume. the best example i can hink of is a staw and a paper towel tube. blow through each one and see how much pressure you can build before you run out of breath. air guns/tools dont need much air flow, they only need pressure. our engines need more airflow and less pressure.

I hear ya. That makes sense.
