97 chrysler stratus 2.5 v6 promblem.

i dont seem to get my fan belt to fit after i changed the alternator,what could be the problem?

If the belt tensioner is loose so you can adjust it all the way slack and the belt will still not go on then they may have given you the wrong alternator.
