Ok i just bought my RX-7 about a month ago and it runs fine except it burns oil and the trany might be going. but anywase i was wondering what would be the best swap for my car that would be afordable but still give me the power that i want.

i also agree with the people that dont like the thought of putting pistons into an RX-7. and for now i want to get a 20b out of a cosmo but i dont know where to get one or what prices they are gonna run

anything info will help thanks

i dunno about where you can find a cosmo engine but i wouldnt hate too much on the v motors ina rex it can be rather fun but since you are against that its ok. there are probably alotta v8's aroud your are though. (my family is form stockton and lodi) Do you know any of the Wombles or nick or nathan diaz???

Your BEST bet would be the 13B out of a 2nd gen turbo RX-7 or out of a 3rd gen. They are relatively cheap and would make for an easy install. The 20B is going to require a hell of a lot of work to make it fit, but you will have some pretty massive performance at your disposal. As for finding one, I know www.corksport.com has them, but you'll be waiting a while for it. They take a while to find, as not many 20Bs are out there. Their price is $3999 plus shipping. I doubt you'll find one anywhere else for much cheaper, if at all, but you should look around regardless, if you really want the 3-rotor.

er... uh.. well your enginge is SUPPOSED to burn oil, i hope you know. Not too much, aobut 1 quart every 700-1000 miles give or take.

That 20B swap at the very LEAST will cost $10,000 (trust me, im doing it this summer) assuming you do all the labor yourself. here's a list of shit you need for a 20B swap:http://fc3s-pro.com/TECH/SWAP/COSMO/20b.html

edit: i misread your pistons part ;)

I hope I don't get in trouble but I say put a Ford 302 EFI or Gm 350.

Can you believe someone put an LT1 in a 3rd gen.

I can understand putting a V8 in 1st or 2nd gen.

would you guys shut up about the r26b? they arent for sale. They dont have a price. If you wanted one, it would be well over 100K. Stop saying stuff you dont know anything about to "look smart"

i would love to have a 26b... who wouldn't. but i think i have to agree with dayna unless someone can show me how or where to buy a 26b i dont think people should be throwing it around. its hard enough to find a decently priced 20b. :p

I've gotta agree with dayna as well. The 26B was a race-only engine, and finding one would be impossible, unless you had a 787, which I doubt anyone here does. Besides, making it street legal would be insanely costly, on top of the engine, which is impossible to find, plus jamming it into ANY RX-7 chassis would take a ton of work too. It's not even worth looking into.
