Anyone ever replace the A/C clutch assembly on an 01 Monte? Do you need a special puller to get it on/off? I have a friend that needs it done and I am going to help him.

yes this can be done ,,,,problem is you need specialized tools...compressor needs to be removed,,,usually the compressor pulley bearing seizes...best get a scrap yard replacement , rather buying a new compressor...many have had good results...
this is not the job for a part time back yard mechanic...
however the compressor replacement is very easy just follow the repair manual,,,get new seals, R134 and a recharge can of PAG150 refrigerent oil.....you will require a vacuum pump after vacuuming the system , then charge the system with the correct amount of refrigerent...
the other option is bypass pulley....no ac but you can get around the compressor pulley issue...
