i have a 96 3.3L which i bought not too far back, about 2 or 3 months ago. what i noticed not too long after i got it was that it would just click sometimes when i tried to start it and it would take a second to start sometimes. once it started to get a bit cooler out in mid fall, i had a problem about 5 times in one week. what happened when i turned the ignition key was that the car would start, so it seemed, but it was making a very strange noise and it sounded like the starter kept going as the car was idleing. when this happened i immediately tried to turn off the car but the key wouldnt go so every time i would have to wait a minute to turn the car off. i would try again and sometimes the same thing would happen and others, it would start normally. this stopped but i then had to get my car inspected. it passed saftey no problem. but with emissions, it would say "no data available for my sensors. so i thought it may have been because my battery died which reset the engine. i drove it around for about 300 miles and came back. the same thing happened so i knew it wasnt the reset computer. not too long after that, my heat gauge would spike up randomly to overheating while i was driving and then it would sometimes fall back down. eventually, it got worse and now after the car runs for about 3 minutes, it says it is overheating. my airbag light has also been on since i got the car but i believe that is because airbags were at one time deployed, but im not positive that they were. the other day, i was pulling out of a parkng spot in a parking lot when i tapped the gas but the car still only idled. i shifted to drive and pressed the gas but it still did not rev the engine at all. i turned off the car and the key locked up in the ignition again but the car did stop runing. i could not restart it, although. i put it in neutral and pushed it back into the spot. i the key then came out no problem and i started the engine again and drove with no issues besides the regular apparent overheating (which i am pretty sure it is not actually overheating). i then didnt use the car at all the day after that because it was snowing. then, the next day, it was a very cold day when i went to go start it again and the car didnt not rev, again. this time, though, the check engine light came on immediately and started blinking. the key locked up in the ignition again and when i tried to restart it, it was a little bit strange sounding and weak sounding. after a few tries, it would only click. i finally got the key out after a few minutes.since then my car has not started. i believe that the problem rests in the cars computer but i am not sure. does anyone know the problem? it also sounds like it may be that i need a new starter and there are several other problems. please help, i have basic knowledge about cars but thats it
