An awful kit but a unique subject

http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/1569/imgp3294.jpg

Crude metal castings but really nice wheels....but... not complete, you must redone spokes with a piece on its end, and make new valves, first decrome all chromed parts

http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/8861/imgp3272.jpg

More step on

http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/7861/imgp3277c.jpg

Completed wheels

Finished and primed ready to chrome with Alclad II,

I ruined one of the three pieces of the photoetched chain, so had to made a 2-part rtv mould, and a melted plastic copy.

I work slowly, it took 3 months to think about doing wheels and 2 weeks to do them, more soon............

Looking good!

Nice subject also.
But please, rescale the pictures as they are way to big to scroll around. You really can't get a grip of what it really looks like this way. No overview so to speak.

Keep it coming.

I would have preferred them big instead of nothing at all.

Progressing, but slowly yet...
Fitting chain copy to PE and PE chain mudguard
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/4071/imgp3310.jpg

Very very crude metal casting, you need a lot of effort an a large amount of file work to finish prior to primer. You´ll need also a lot of drill bits, the whole kits need to open a huge amount of tiny holes, not ever specified in instructions.

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/5884/imgp3315r.jpg

Dry test fitting with some pieces (all of them metal) primed and a ligth black basecoat, engine will be aluminium (alclad) and frame and fork black.

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/6721/imgp3323.jpg

I was not going to add more work because of the kit is enough complex, but the handlebar is TERRIBLE, so cut everything and tried to improve it, with plastic, steel and patience, even redone is the throttle output.

http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/8888/imgp3322.jpg

Added some Verlinden hexagon nuts.

http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/1657/imgp3326l.jpg

A front view:

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/2754/imgp3329.jpg

Throttle output:

http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/268/imgp3330k.jpg

Rear view

http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/7334/imgp3331.jpg

Tricky fit in front mudguard. Side pieces from PE and they are fitted with 6 tiny pin heads. Mudguard was dechromed (all chromed pieces were).

MORE SOON. HOPE YOU LIKE IT:iceslolan:):iceslolan:grinyes::loser::grinno::l ol:

I have 4 gunze more, but not finished, this is my Gunze´s first. Probably Rikuo will be the next one, I have decromed plastic parts now...
Now new images, finished up to stage 7, instruction sheet 1 of 2 (very large ones, seemed to old newspapers) is out, 50% progress done.

Now it seems more a bike, I have a 1/1 triumph bonneville and really love classic (or old) bikes, its a really beauty.
Think crome wheels are a bit too shine, but want your comments. Now a new feature (not seen in photos), i made a front license plate like old BSAs, but cant find correct transfer letters (font type Charles Wrigth 2001, in UK plates) in white of about 5-6 mm, so I thik will finally have to make custom decals (panic...), emblems and instruments are PE so I hope i can manage with them. Gas tank in two tones, aluminium and chrome, and making a new seat, not definitive if scratch or improved copy of original, and at last turned aluminium exhaust, I think it will be painted instead of natural metal finish. Probably next images will be of finished bike. Hope you like it, please post your comments, critics.....

Here is the improved copy of the seat, primed besides the original one. This was from something nearly to vinyl, unable to paint or detail, and was much better once scatched with green scotchbrite, but yet not perfect, I think the new one is better, I added BSA letters in back side.

For 2rd or 3rd attempt, now more or less happy with instruments and emblems (they are photoetched, not decals, and must be painted)

http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/2519/imgp3373x.jpg

And the improved seat painted black, much better than original, I have to paint the thin edge in beige-faded white and back letters too.

This project is coming along nicely! I've done a couple of these Gunze bikes and they can drive you nutz. That seat looks great. While most of the parts in these kits are pretty good representations the seats just have to be scratched. I used milliput to make the one on my Indian.

Thank a lot, your Indian is really stunning, I saved in my HD every photograph of it as i have one to be build. You encouraged me to start this BSA when I saw the Indian.
Really finished very soon.

At last finished, a few problems with gas tank paint and unable to reproduce the bicolor scheme, it has to be only aluminium colour. The license plates attached, unfortunately I didnt find the corret letter font and not the correct colour (silver), so they are white, they will be changed if found.
Hope you like it, and thanks to all who encouraged me to start it and to finish it. This is the kit i´ve evr enjoyed more, and suffered too.
I have 5-6 Gunze more but I need some OOB to "distress" before starting a new one, now working in a Guzzi Centauro and a 916 duke at the same time, but they will be showed only finished.

Looks really terrific!

I wouldn't worry about the accuracy of the number plates as most were black and white plates - more common than black and silver back then. Looks spot on for the period!
