Guys I just did this and its very simple!!!
Its a must do! it takes your corner and makes it 2 times brighter and if you get new bulbs (hyperwhite) you can really see it.
Its all very simple the only hard part is pulling out the casement of the corner, and with a little patience it comes out

can you use an 1156 bulb and clip a nub? since you're only using the brighter fillament.

no. You have to use 1157 ONLY! Since the 1157 has 2 conditions that it works at. 1st is regular (lower wire in the bulb) 2nd is bright one (higher wire in the bulb) All you have to do is take nail clippers and cut the nob that sits higher than another one on the bulb ( the nob = small metal piece that holds bulbs in its place) after you cut the higher nob, all you gotta do is put the bulb in the other way (180 degrees around) Thats it.

there is no way to do that with 1156, because it has only one connection on the bottom of the bulb. 1156 bulb is the one that is in front and rear blinkers. It has only 1 wire inside of the bulb itself. Meaning it provides only one brightness. 1157 on the other hand was ment for 2 levels of brightness. For example in most of the maximas when you turn your blinkers on, the corner light gets brighter. In my maxima when you do that my corner light doesnt get brighter for some reason. Thats why some people turn the bulb in the corner lights (1157) 180 degrees around. By doing that you are connecting the 1157 bulb the other way (since 1157 has 2 connections on the bottom of it) so it will be on 2nd level of brightness all the time. Hope this helps

What I did was buy new PIAA 1157's and clipped the higher knob..which is closer to the filiment. Then I took out the casement to the corner lights and put the bulb in the opposite way...basically a 180 degree turn from normal. Then make sure the bulb is in all the way and not lose, then check to see if it works
