Just bought a 2002 Jetta 1.8 wagon.
The Misses noted the heat control can't been seen at night.
I would guess there is a lamp for the heat controls and a blub is burnt out.
How would I get to the bulb?
Thanks,
Saaby1

You will have to pull the center knob off, just grab it with a pair of pliers and pull it straight out to get to the bulb. I would recommend wrapping the nose of the pliers with something to ensure you don't mar the knob. The bulb is tiny and a real PIA to get to..needle nose pliers are your friend here. I cracked mine on the first attempt to get the old one out. It took a bit of close work to get all the residual glass out as it prevented the new bulb from seating properly.
Good Luck.

I use a 5/16" vacuum hose to pull out the old bulb and install the new one.
