help a poor fool

Let me say first that my clame to fame is not fixing cars. My brother in law left me this wonderful 99 mystique he had the tranny rebuilt and it still had other problems so he parked in my driveway, there is sat. I decided that I would test it out. Low power, overheats water in the exaust. So head gasket. I have done this before, so I tear into it and get to the point that I ask my mechanic freind to come give me some advise on how to get the exhuast side sprocket off to remove the cam. While I was waiting I thought i would give it a go and stuck a bar under the camshaft sensor lobe and started cranking and yes the lobe moved. So how can I realign the sensor lobes with the shaft.
