Wrong wiper mechanism pause position.

I recently had to replace the wiper mechanism in my 1999 Montana after one of the arm pivots seized and broke.
Everything works fine except when in intermittent (delayed) wiper mode, the wiper arms pause in the upright position instead of the running down position (just above the parked position).
There is a mechanism with a reciprocating sandwiched spring and slot attached to the motor which I suspect has something to do with this.

Anyone familiar with this who could tell me how to get the wiper arms to pause in the down position when in intermittent mode ?

Thanks in advance.

You've replaced the wiper motor already so we'll take it from there.

First, disconnect the crank arm again.

Install the crank arm as follows:

A) Turn the ignition to the ACC position.

B) Turn the wiper switch to the PULSE position.

C) The wiper motor should run momentarily, then stop on delay. When the wiper motor stops, turn the ignition OFF.

D) Install the crank arm on the wiper motor shaft while maintaining a 5/32 to 5/16" (4 to 8mm) gap between the V-notch in the cranck arm and the tab. DO NOT rotate the wiper shaft.

E) When the gap is set, tighten the crank arm screw to 150 in-lbs.

F) turn the ignition ON and allow the motor to run. when the motor stops on delay, turn the ignition OFF abd check the gap. If the gap is not correct, repeat the installation.
